The West Virginia University Extension Service is seeking Extension Trainers for their Fire Service program. These positions will work on a sporadic (as needed) schedule. They will serve as trainers throughout the state and will be required to travel as needed. In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:

•Act as lead or assistant instructor to train multiple individuals in various areas of fire and emergency response.
•Perform assigned duties in potentially hazardous conditions in full personal protective equipment.
•Independently travel to assigned trainings.
•Operate in full personal protective equipment for extended periods of time in all weather and hazardous conditions related to the Fire Service.

 

Work Hours: Sporadic/As Needed
Number of Positions Available: 15

Qualifications:

•High school diploma
•At least six (6) years of adult experience in fire, rescue, hazmat, etc.
•At least one (1- year of experience as a subject matter expert in areas of fire, police or emergency response training
•Demonstrated mastery of skills and knowledge in a nationally recognized area of fire, explosion and rescue fields, including, but not limited to, firefighting, leadership and hazmat

•Two (2) teaching references with contact information
•Valid driver's license
•Instructor I certificate (fire)
•CPR
•First Aid
•Pro-Board Instruction I is preferred
