Notice of Passing: Lee Thomas, Jackson County Fireman

Lee Thomas, 83 of Ravenswood passed away December 7, 2016 at Camden Clark Medical Center.
 
He was born November 4, 1933 at Sandyville, a son of the late Orville and Jessie Smith Thomas. He served in the US Army and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He retired from Ravenswood Aluminum in 1995 after 38 years of service. He was a charter member of the Silverton Fire Department which started in 1968. He served as the Chief of the department for 25 years. Lee dedicated his life to helping people in the community.
 
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen Benson Thomas; son Gregory Thomas and his wife Denise; daughter Joyce Baltic; grandchildren Stephanie Thomas, Jason Baltic and his wife Cathryn and Stacy Baltic; three great grandchildren, Julie, Hailey, Myna.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Pete Baltic.
 
Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Sunday, December 11, 2016 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Mike Elder officiating. Burial with Fireman Rites will be in the Ravenswood Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 9 pm Saturday, Decemeber, 10, 2016 at the funeral home.
 
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Lee’s memory to the Silverton Fire Department, 3562 Greenhills Rd., Ravenswood, WV 26164.
